So, dear reader, what DO you plan to do with your wild and precious life? This poster, by etsy shop the Wheatfield, is a quote from a poem by Mary Oliver. I love its vibrancy and the message. Or maybe the vibrancy OF the message.
Speaking of poetry, I’ve been reading a lot of Jane Kenyon lately. I cannot believe I’m on a wedding photography blog talking about poetry, but I am. So there ya go. Her poetry is often about the overlooked meaningfulness of the quotidian. It is profound without being overly confessional, and I am always hit with a lot of ‘a-ha’ moments when I read her.
I’ve been drinking hibiscus tea this summer. It’s refreshing and good for the circulation.
Okay, I’m starting to sound like a Granny….. From 1820….. ‘Read some nice poetry and drink herbal tea and everything will be better soon.’
I saw this film this week. I enjoyed watching the hugely talented and driven children in this documentary chase their dreams. I cried a bit and you will too.
I’m planning two trips to see garden installations. ‘What’s a garden installation?’. I’m so glad you asked!!!
First up, I’m going to Dumbarton Oaks to see the cloud crystal by landscape artists Andy Cao and Xavier Perrot.
Then, in September I’m going to Longwood Gardens to see this amazing creation. To say I am excited is an understatement. I’ll post photos of both. I started to write about the ‘fascinating juxtaposition between old fashioned english gardens and modern…blah, blah, blah’ but the truth is, these things are just plain cool.
This is the prettiest cake I have seen in ages. So simple, so truly available and delicious looking. In the wedding biz you see a lot of cakes that look like they took twelve people a hundred hours to make, so desserts like these are a refreshing antidote to the excess.
Supposedly, over half the world’s spam has been eliminated. I’m really going to miss hearing from my good friends the Crowned Princes of Nigeria and folks who want to offer me all sorts of potions, balms and pills that do all manner of highly improbable things.
Have a fantastic weekend! I’m shooting a wedding at a private home in Norfolk. xxoo-eleise
